Foraging Walks (Wallingford Castle)
A guided wild food walk, exploring the abundance of edible plants
Service Description
Join professional foraging guide and chef, Dave Fung, for a three hour guided wild food walk around the lovely ruins of Wallingford Castle. Dave will introduce you to at least 30 edible wild plants, which represents just a part of the bountiful offer of wild plant foods available. Dave will explain which plants are safe and which are toxic and how to identify them safely, reference books and websites will also be discussed. Together we will make medicinal herbal tea and harvest some of the huge variety of leaves and flowers available at this time of year . We may even encounter some spring wild mushrooms. Dave will discuss how you can use them in the kitchen and home medicine cabinet as well as some other practical uses such as natural soaps and salves. We will also enjoy a picnic made from wild ingredients, and discuss sustainable harvesting practices, foraging and the law.
